UGANDA
SAFARIS
As
the Pearl of Africa, Uganda's beauty is only surpassed by
its most famous attraction - Bwindi, home of the elusive
and treasured mountain gorilla. It is estimated that only
650 Mountain Gorillas remain in the world. They are found
in only 3 countries and Uganda is estimated to have at least
one third of the population. Gorilla trekking can be arduous,
trekking through thick forests, up steep slopes and down
through valleys. Your trek can be long or short, depending
on where the gorillas have moved during the night. Once
located, most stays with the gorillas last about an hour
before the return trek to camp. Permits are limited and
advance booking is highly recommended. If you plan to include
Gorilla trekking in a pan-African holiday, we recommend
planning the Uganda portion first.
