KENYA
SAFARIS
Safari
is Swahili for "journey" and it is in Kenya where
safaris began. Magnificent national parks and reserves brim
with wildlife. Lush forests, breathtaking mountains and
tribal cultures plus the amazing variety and quality of
bird life make Kenya a fascinating destination. The 500
kms of golden beaches of the Kenyan Coast invite the visitor
to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. More than
anything, it is perhaps the wildlife that draws visitors
to Kenya, boasting some of the finest reserves in Africa.
UGANDA
SAFARIS
As
the Pearl of Africa, Uganda's beauty is only surpassed by
its most famous attraction - Bwindi, home of the elusive
and treasured mountain gorilla. It is estimated that only
650 Mountain Gorillas remain in the world. They are found
in only 3 countries and Uganda is estimated to have at least
one third of the population. Gorilla trekking can be arduous,
trekking through thick forests, up steep slopes and down
through valleys. Your trek can be long or short, depending
on where the gorillas have moved during the night. Once
located, most stays with the gorillas last about an hour
before the return trek to camp. Permits are limited and
advance booking is highly recommended. If you plan to include
Gorilla trekking in a pan-African holiday, we recommend
planning the Uganda portion first.
TANZANIA
SAFARIS
Over
945 sq. kms, Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa
and has fittingly been called the "land of the ultimate
safari." Within its borders you will find Africa's
highest mountain (Mt. Kilimanjaro at 5,985 m)) as well as
the continent's three largest lakes: Victoria, Malawi and
Tanganyika.
Tanzania also boasts three World Heritage Sites: Serengeti
National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Selous Game Reserve.
Here too, you will find Olduvai Gorge, where Mary and Louis
Leakey discovered traces of the first upright hominids,
paving the way for even more important archaeological discoveries.
Magnificent wildlife, extraordinary scenery and outstanding
hospitality combine to make Tanzania the ultimate in safari
experiences.
